Itinerary
Begin the morning with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Here, you will hear about Ho Chi Minh or Uncle Ho – our great president who led Vietnam’s campaign for independence from French colonial rule. After dedicating his life to the liberation of his country from foreign rule, Uncle Ho passed away in 1969 and his body was preserved for posterity. The mausoleum is closed for a month and Uncle Ho is given a bit of a spruce up in every October.
Then wander the grounds to see the one pillar pagoda and the presidential palace. Next, discover to the Temple of Literature – another 11th century relic, which was built in homage to the Chinese scholar Confucius before have tasty foods at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon start to visit the Museum of Ethnology that is widely recognized as the best in the country, with a large display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority people. Next, discover the Old Quarter and understand about lifestyle of Hanoian by taking a breezy cyclo ride through the Old Quarter’s 36 streets, named for the products that were sold from their shops. Today it’s been changed but vendors on Tin and Bamboo Streets still sell the same wares. After that, visit the Ngoc Son temple set on a tiny island on the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake and how it got its name from a legend of an emperor, a magic sword and a giant turtle. End your day with a delightful water puppet show, a traditional art and one of beloved show that can’t be missed in Vietnam.
Please note:
* Estimated pick-up time: 8.00AM – Estimated duration: 8hrs
* A long waiting time in line is required to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum especially in high season (March and April) and on rainy days. You can’t visit other places in the complex without visiting the Mausoleum.
* The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed every afternoon as well as on Mondays and Fridays. During closure, the Ho Chi Minh Residence and other places in the complex can be visited as normal.
* From 15th June to 15th August 2018, the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum will be closed for the annual renovation. Presidential Palace and the Resident of the complex remain opened at normal schedule for your visit.
* The Museum of Ethnology is closed on Monday & Vietnamese New Year.
