ANGKOR HIGHLIGHT 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival / City Tours / Rolous Group (D)
Upon arrival at Siem Reap Airport, meet on arrival and transfer direct to hotel (Room may ready at noon).
After a short rest, embark on Remorque “Tuk Tuks” to visit Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm shrine where local people praying for good luck, happiness and safe journey once they are traveling. Next is Angkor National Museum, learn the story how Khmer Empire has been established, then head to visit the early-Angkor era temples of the Rolous Group, about 15km outside of Siem Reap. Rolous is the site of the first town built by the Angkorian kings in the 8th and 9th century and consists of three main temples: Bakong, Lolei and Preah Ko. The beautiful surrounding countryside with its paddy fields and sugar palm trees is very typical for Cambodia – enjoy the beauty ox cart ride to Rolous Pagoda, a great and fun way to get in touch with rural Cambodia and its friendly people. Here, in a small contemporary pagoda, Buddhist monks will celebrate a private blessing ceremony for you, wishing your health and a safe journey – a very special experience. Evening, enjoy buffet dinner with Cambodian Folk Show. Overnight at hotel
Day 2: Siem Reap / Angkor Temple (B, L)
After breakfast, visit Angkor Wat: the largest religious monument dedicated to god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture and has become a symbol of Cambodia. Continue to South gate of Angkor Thom: One best-preserved gate of the quadrangle defensive walls of Angkor Thom, once protected the Khmer capital. Climb up and venture on the protection wall towards Prasat Chrung to see the thrilling view of local village: fishing, yellow balloon, thousands of palm trees. Continue to West gate of Angkor Thom: the non-restoration gate, allowing visitors to make the comparison to the best-preserved gate (pre & post restoration). Bayon: a Buddhist temple best known today for the gigantic face sculptures. Stop for lunchtime in Angkor Thom area with healthy & delicious local food. Passing by North gate of Angkor Thom to explore the remarkable rainforest with butterflies, flowers and hearing the sound of nature along the way to Preah Khan: temple completely covered in jungle, consists of 4 doors that make it look alike to a mirror reflection. Tanei: an ancient hospital, untouched by archeologist, hiding its beauty in the middle of forest. Lastly, the very impressive Taprom: the centerpiece of King Jayavarman VII’s master plan, also the headquarters of his vast hospital network. If time permitted, visit sunset from where possible. Day 3: Siem Reap / Kbal Spean / Banteay Srei (B, L)
Morning – We drive 45 km to the north of Siem Reap to Kbal Spean (The head of the bridge or the river of the thousand lingams), trekking up to the hill 1.50 km take about 2 hour for the tour. The site consists of a series of stone carvings in sandstone formations carved in the river bed and banks. It is commonly known as the “Valley of a 1000 Lingas” or “The River of a Thousand Lingas”. The motifs for stone carvings are mainly myriads of lingams (phallic symbol of Hindu god Shiva), depicted as neatly arranged bumps that cover the surface of sandstone bed rock, and lingam-yoni designs. Kbal Spean is described as “a spectacularly carved riverbed, set deep in the jungle to the northeast of Angkor”. The river over which the bridge head exists is also known as Stung Kbal Spean, a tributary of the Siem Reap River that rises in the Kulen mountains north of Banteay Srei. The river bed cuts through sandstone formations and the many architectural sculptures of Hindu mythology have been carved within the sandstone. We drive down and visit the famous Banteay Srei (Citadel of Women). On the way back stop at Pradark Village, where you will see the villagers making palm sugar, handicraft for selling to tourist. It’s a nice chance for you to see the local people living at the country side with their struggling for daily life. Overnight at hotel
Day 4: Siem Reap / Tonle Sap Lake / Village Trekking (B, L)
After breakfast, (depend on season) we drive to visit Tonle Sap Lake either from Chhong Khneas or Kampong Phluk village, the floating village located 10 – 15 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Visit the village and take an excursion in a traditional wooden boat on the Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s biggest natural water body and, one of the largest in Asia. The experience is wonderful as we pass by floating village, friendly children in small boats and fishermen. Return to city stop for visiting to “Les Artisans D`Angkor – Chantiers Ecoles”, this center works with young artisans; the team creates, produce and market a unique collection of ornamental sculpture, lacquer, silk weaving and silk painting. The company promotes fair and sustainable development in order to provide benefits to rural communities.
This late afternoon, head out of busy town around 9-15km by passing beautiful rice paddies and villages. Make you your camera ready to snap some funny activities that may meet on the way. After 20- 30 min rides, you’ll arrive and start trekking in the village to see villager weaving basket, weaving thatch, noodle making, plan vegetables or on the Rice Fields, interact with local people, see their houses, animal or learn about their customs & Traditional, find out how they live and earn their daily life in the countryside. Immerse yourself to practice or participate with them on the activities or make one gift back home. Return to hotel and overnight.
Day 5: Siem Reap / Departure (B)
Breakfast at hotel, free until transfer to Siem Reap International airport for boarding home sweet home or next destination.
